Cowboys Casino is a multi-venue entertainment complex located less than 20 km from Calgary airport towards the south – about a 30 minute drive. The casino's 96,000 square foot gaming space features 400 gaming machines and 50 table and poker games. Besides the gaming, the casino also has a nightclub, concert venue, restaurant and pub. For this reason, Cowboys is touted as both a multi purpose venue AND as 'redefining how much fun a local casino can be.' I'll give Cowboys points: The vague cowboy theme is fitting for Calgary; the grounds are clean; and, the gaming selection is pretty impressive, albeit fairly standard as far as casinos go. It is situated in the city in the trendy Victoria Park area and at the gate of the famous Calgary Stampede Park. The Calgary stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July – a ten day event which attracts over one million visitors to the city.
There is free, heated underground parking (most welcome when winter bites) and also excellent access by public transport with the Calgary Light Rail Transit.
